As the year is coming to an end and the life is coming back on track after covid era, we can observe a lot of trauma cases in orthopaedic emergency and so is the variety.
This month’s issue of Indian Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery has tried to bring out variety in our trauma cases.
Indian Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery has led on issues pertaining to radial head fractures. There has always been a debate whether to excise the head or to replace it. We have published papers on this topic as radial head arthroplasty is a new topic in orthopaedic community.
We have given importance to our geriatric population as many of them have associated co-morbidities which makes it difficult for the patient as well as for the surgeon for a proper pre-op as well as post-op planning. Most common fracture in geriatric population that we deal is around hip, including femur neck and inter trochanteric. We have also discussed problems related to their discharge from hospital.
In Arthroplasty, we have two interesting topic, one related to knee and other with hip. With the increase in the number of knee arthroplasty cases all over the world we thrive for a newer and better implant. In this issue of Indian Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery we have a paper from Turkey analysing effects of the Tibial slope angle change on Total Knee prosthesis.
For rare cases we have included a case report from Oujda, Morocco of a Costo-vertebral hydatid cyst, Osteochondroma in foot from Bangalore and bilateral interosseous ganglion of the Talus from Indore.
Indian Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery has always given its readers topics which are in vogue in Orthopaedic community and will try to do so in the upcoming new year.
Once again, I would like to thank our readers for their support and I would like to request them in this New Year, to continue giving their ideas and papers for this beautiful journey of learning together.
